Introductory Questions
- My name is Lela Hartzman. I am a senior majoring in Communication Design with a minor in Business of the Arts.
- I love to learn, especially when it comes to making art. This is a required class for my major, but I know nothing about interaction design so I am excited (but a little nervous) about taking this class.
- No, I have absolutely no experience with HTML/CSS/JS.
- I'm not entirely sure what HTML/CSS/JS exactly are, so everything will be new for me to learn.
- Designing for paper involves a scale shift, for example, I could be working on a large poster that looks small on my computer screen. This scale shift was something I had to practice getting used to, but I am thinking it will not be as big of a shift when designing for the screen.
- used https://www.figma.com a lot during my summer internship, and I think its design is very effective since it looks interesting while also being easy to understand. The use of bold colors and the organization of the tools work really well together and it has been a great design tool that I have enjoyed using.
- https://www.duolingo.com exemplifies effective communication with the use of illustrations and corresponding captions. It is very visually focused and does not use as many words, making it easy to understand quickly.
- https://www.airbnb.com is a website I think works really well. It is easy to navigate and find exactly what I am looking for. There is a lot of information on the website, but at the same time it does not feel overwhelming.
